dissolving icosphere

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-12-23T06:30:58+01:00

I recently watched a tutorial by tutor4u on how to make a dissolving blender material using a noise texture

I recreated the technique dissolving a ico-sphere instead of a suzanne you can download the blend file here

smoke density selection

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-10-06T06:17:57+02:00

for this animation I used a smoke sim and a volume material. The material only selects part of the density values using a color-ramp node. The smoke has no temperature difference but is moved by a turbulence force-field

material animation - dragon tear

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-07-13T06:46:44+02:00

I animated the mix- and displacement-factors in a cycles material node-set

dragon tear

displacement cell

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-06-29T06:32:00+02:00

For this animation I used two nested icospeheres - the outer one has a glass material the inner one uses a displacement texture

you can download the blend file here

torus displacement

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-06-25T06:43:23+02:00

I used a displacement modifier on a torus meth and animated various parameters

light rings

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-06-23T06:44:33+02:00

For this animation I used a brick texture in cycles with a very large brick size and used it's factor output to mix between a transparent and an emission shader

double mesh

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-06-22T06:59:41+02:00

For this animation I used two linked Icospheres. One got a skin modifier the other one was subdivided and got a wireframe material

you can download the blend file here

pointiness

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-06-08T06:38:46+02:00

I experimented with the new pointiness output of the Geometry Node in cycles

displace curve mesh

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-01-05T06:09:59+01:00

For this animation I used a blender circle and a cycles material with an animated displacement texture. The separated faces in the first halve of the animation are a wired result of the subdivide checkbox - not really what I expected from a function called "subdivide" but I really like it

cycles material deform

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-12-14T08:26:38+01:00

I experimented again with the blender material displacement output for this animation. I used a displacement modifier to make coarse modifications and a blender material with a displacement texture for the finer ripples. I really like the new displacement settings that got introduced in 2.69
