I've been playing with the cubesurfer addon by pyroevil this weekend. This addon creates meshes from the surface of particle systems, for example to create fluid simulations.

This animation is my first cubesurfer experiment. I used a simple particle system with fluid particles and an isosurface to create a mesh from the particles

I played with the particle info node and used the velocity direction and magnitude to create the color of the boid particles for this animation

For this animation I used a particle system that uses a metaball as particle object. The metaball system has a material with an SSS shader. The only light source is placed above the particle emitter

I made a new simple animation using the blender particle system. I animated the particle emitter along a bezier curve, added a no physics particle set and also clicked the show dead particles to prevent them from dissapearing. For the light setup I used a sky node for the "world" and a plane with an emission material on the upper right.

for this animation I played with the fiber-mesh addon. The leafs are generated using a particle system.

small particles experiment

Tonight I played a bit with the blender particles engine and created some nice effects using very small particles, since they are quite short I combined two of them in one video this time using the video sequence editor
