freestyle cycles experiment 3
For this animation I used a build modifier on a cube and added a depth of field effect.

freestyle cycles
For this animation I used the blender testbuild for version 2.72. To my delight you can use freestyle with cycles without any layering or scene tricks.

blender freestyle experiment 8 - neon lines
For this blender freestyle experiment I used the compositor to create a blur effect on the freestyle lines

molecular experiment 3 - freestyle
For this molecular experiment I used a no gravity particle system and an emitter that moves along a spiral curve. I rendered it using blender internal and freestyle.
I think it would make a great intro for a kids show on TV

blender freestyle experiment 7 - tracking
For this blender freestyle experiment I tracked a video scene and rendered the freestyle lines on a real physical object.

blender freestyle experiment 6
For this part of my blender freestyle experiments I wanted to simulate crosshatching in the compositor.

blender freestyle experiment 5
For this blender freestyle experiment I created a shadeless material that support specular reflection. I used a comic shader for the specular and used a texture to create the shadeless material in BI

blender freestyle experiment 4
For this blender freestyle experiment I rendered the lineart on a separate renderlayer. In compositing I blurred the image and then added the renderlayer containing the lineart to make the colors leak under the lines

blender freestyle experiment 3
For this blender freestyle experiment I used the bulled physics engine. The rendering is done with blender internal and I added multiple lines with different offsets and opacities.
