For this animation I used a fluid simulation without gravity and a spherical obstacle. Then I used a smooth modifier to get rid of all the wired artifacts of the fluid sim

You can duplicate the obstacle sphere and use the inverse of it as a boolean object to shave off the voxel artifacts. Just a different way of smoothing out the imperfections.
