grease pencil experiment 4 - depth of field
While experimenting with grease pencil animation scripted in python, i recognized that the grease pencil shapes also affect the depth map - so they can be used to change the DoF using the defocus node in the compositor. I was really pleasantly surprised - this opens a whole lot of new possibilities :-)
you can download the blend file here

Thanks for this! I've downloaded it and ran in latest version of blender 2.83.1 but can't see any DOF effects in the rendered image. Are there some updates that need to be done since you ran this?
What version of Blender did you use to render the above?
Hi David,
I tried the code in the latest version of blender 2.83 and it workes fine.
To see the depth effect you need to go to the text-editor and run the embedded python script (this creates the lines and the animation)
to see the depth effect you need to render it with cycles (hit F12). The depth blur is done in composition so you will not see it in the 3D editor view.
