Animation Node experiment - transformation

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-11-18T08:04:50+00:00

for this animation I used two cellfractured objects and transformed one into the other

For this animation I used two animation node trees. The first one animates the shards of the cube, the second one is responsible for the sphere shards. The nodes networks might look a bit complicated but the principle behind it is simple. The cube shards get translated outward, are rotated by a random amount and then scaled to zero. At the same time the shards of the sphere make the same movements in reverse.

to achieve the washed out look I rendered the freestyle lines on a separate renderlayer - blurred the image in the compositor and then used an alpha-over node to add the lines.

The soundtrack for this animation was created in bitwig studio, the boxes are rendered with cycles and the blender freestyle addon

freestyle btrace

I wanted to test how well freestyle works with curves in cycles so I made a particle system and traced them using the bTrace addon. Works pretty well :-)

I recently discovered the push/pull and the random transform functions in blenders object/transform menu and used them to create this animation

for this animation I played with the blender freestyle lines and a vortex force field

blender freestyle experiment 8 - neon lines

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-05-24T06:01:51+00:00

For this blender freestyle experiment I used the compositor to create a blur effect on the freestyle lines

For this part of my blender freestyle experiments I wanted to simulate crosshatching in the compositor.

For this blender freestyle experiment I created a shadeless material that support specular reflection. I used a comic shader for the specular and used a texture to create the shadeless material in BI

blender freestyle experiment 4

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-05-04T08:03:27+00:00

For this blender freestyle experiment I rendered the lineart on a separate renderlayer. In compositing I blurred the image and then added the renderlayer containing the lineart to make the colors leak under the lines

blender freestyle experiment 3

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-05-02T06:09:41+00:00

For this blender freestyle experiment I used the bulled physics engine. The rendering is done with blender internal and I added multiple lines with different offsets and opacities.
