gravity change

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-07-16T07:15:05+00:00

for this video I used some cell-fracture shards to drop to a surface and then I turned of the gravity and activated a forcefield at the original position of the fractured object to make the shards come back

cluster

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-07-15T06:40:00+00:00

For this animation I used a bunch of small objects with rigid body settings and used a forcefield as an artificial gravity well to make them cluster around it

cycles ink drop

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-04-28T07:03:45+00:00

A while ago Blender Diplom created an awesome tutorial on how to simulate an ink blob in blender using the smoke simulator. Unfortunately this tutorial uses the blender internal render.

I played a bit with the cycles smoke materials to recreate this in cycles. Here is my result not perfect but getting there

repairing a cube

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-03-03T06:38:43+00:00

I fractured a cube using the cell-fracture-addon and animated the pieces using the push/pull transform and the random-transform functions

cubesurfer experiment 3

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-02-18T06:34:55+00:00

This is my 3rd experiment with the cubesurfer addon by pyroevil. This animation uses a fluid particle set and the molecular addon (also by pyroevil)

layered fracture

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-02-11T06:57:06+00:00

For this animation I played with the fracture modifier test build again and added a boolean modifier after the fracturing. This creates an quite interesting effect, because the layers that are created by the boolean operator stay fixed while the fracture shards that happen before the boolean operation slide around.

you can download the blend file here

To run it you need a blender testbuild containing the fracure modifier

layer fracture

shell break

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-01-29T06:02:32+00:00

For this animation I used two nested spheres and only the outer one has a solidify and a fracture modifier applied

curve fracture

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-01-28T06:23:29+00:00

For this animation I tried to apply the fracture modifier to a beveled curve. The fracturing worked quite well, but unfortunately cycles isn´t able to render the resulting shards. So I copied the curve before I break it and converted it to a mesh.

breaking things

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-01-27T06:32:21+00:00

This is my second experiment with the blender fracture modifier testbuild. This time I used the solidify modifier before the fracturing. I also used objects with smooth normal vectors to test the fix normals function - not perfect but works quite well

fracture modifier test

Nikolaus Gradwohl2015-01-22T07:00:00+00:00

This is my first testanimation with the fracture modifier testbuild by scorpion81. So far it´s nothing that couldn´t have been created with the cell fracture addon, but the speed of the modifier has totaly blown me away! ITS SO FAST! The fracturing is done before you can blink an eye! Expect more experiments to come :-)

You can download the testbuilds from Scorpion81´s blenderwiki userpage

you can download the blend file here To run the blend file you need a testbuild of blender that contains the fracture modifier
