diffuse freeze
For this animation I used an animated material that changes the diffuse parameter of a glass material in cycles

volca+bitwig - stepdup
For this session I used the novation launchpad step sequencer for bitwig to create sequences for my volca synths (hence the name)

boolean experiment 3
I haven't used the boolean modifier for a while, so I made a new short experiment using it. for this video I used a bunch of boolean modifiers, an array modifier and a simple deform modifier

porcelain ocean
for this animation I used the ocean modifier and added a shiny porcelain like material to the resulting mesh

Bitwig Controller-Script for M-Audio iControl
In bitwig-studio you controller mappings can be scripted using a javascript api. Fortunately most of the midi controllers I own (Launchpad, nanoKontrol, nanoPad, ...) are already mapped and all I had to do was to connect them. This weekend I found my very first hardware usb controller I bought back in the days when iMacs looked like candy and macos X was released. The M-Audio iControl for GarageBand. As the name suggests it was designed to work with GarageBand a very striped down version of Logic that came for free with MacOS X.
Since I wanted to play with the bitwig controler api for some time now I took the challange and wrote a midi mapping for the controller.
How To render freestyle lines on a second Renderlayer using cycles
starting with blender 2.72 freestyle can be used in cycles too, without having to use tricks like layers with different renderers. Unfortunately there is no freestyle pass in the render layer anymore, so we can“t use the line drawing of our scene in the compositor as easy as with the blender internal renderer. (by the time of writing 2.72 is not yet released - so currently I'm using 2.72-RC1 to create the screenshot)
what we can do to separate the lines and recombine it in the compositor is render it on a separate render layer.
dissolving smoke
for this animation I've used a Turbulence force field to whirl some no gravity dissolving smoke around. you can download the blend file here
purple smoke
This animation was created by accident. I played with the new smoke/fire material of the object/Quick Smoke menu in blender 2.72-RC and accidentally set one of the parameters to -2. I have no idea how or why this works but its definitely worth exploring further.

freestyle cycles experiment 3
For this animation I used a build modifier on a cube and added a depth of field effect.

fluid intertwined pipe
I used a mesh from an extruded curve and a boolean modifier to create a glass cube with a intertwined pipe and filled it using the fluid simulator
