how to create launchpad light effects with chuck
Most launchpad videos feature cool effects running on a launchpad. There are several tutorials on how to make such effects using ableton live. But since my launchpad is connected to a linux box this doesn´t help me much. So I wrote a short chuck script that reacts to the midi events sent by the launchpad and creates an arpeggiator effect to light up the leds. The color can be influenced by changing the velocity.
This script works with a launchpad S or a launchpad mini.
here is a short video that shows my script in action
sound visualizer experiment 4
for this sound visualizer I subdivided a plane several times and used a triangulate modifier. The sound drives the intensity of a displacement modifier.

sound visualizer experiment 3
For this sound visualizer I animated the color of a diffuse material node using a driver and an empty node
the song I used is called "To be named" and can be found here

sound visualizer experiment 2
For this animation I baked a sound curve to the z-position of an emtpy. Then I used a cylindrical shape as a particle emitter that gets scaled by the empty and moved it along a curved path
I used the first 10 seconds of my song arp1 to test the visualizer

sound visualizer experiment 1
for this sound visualizer I created a python script that creates curves for 16 frequency bands of the sound file
The song can be heard in full length here
my script is based on the unbake f-curve script by liero

Progression
This song started as a chord progression practice session. Recorded using ardour3, my volca keys, mininova and a W7
kugelbahn
I wanted to play with the nle editor of blender a bit so my kids shot me some footage of our marble run and I cut it into a 30sec short film using blender
