I started a new series of blender experiments - this time I'm exploring the possibilities of blenders texture-forcefields. This is my first experiment where I move particles that are aligned into a 3D-grid by a colored cloud texture

vortex fluid
for this animation I used fluid particles in a grid that get moved by a vortext-field

I used an iso-surface on a particle system that starts out as a regular grid and gets shuffled slightly by a force field

Animation Node experiment - boxed surface
For this animation I combined the particle cluster nodes with a iso-surface from the cubesurfer addon

Animation Node experiment - curve cluster
For this animation I used the "Network From Particles"-Template of the Animation-Node-Addon to add splines between clusters of particles

underwater particles
For this animation I combined a volumetric material and a particle system
To achieve the light effect I placed the particle system in a box with a that only uses a "Volume Scatter"-node in the material with a Density of 0.2
Then I used a Spot-Light with a linear light falloff, by plugging the "Linear" output of a "Light Falloff"-node into the strength input of the Emission-node.

Animation Node experiment - particle cluster II
For this animation I played again with the particle cluster template from the animation node addon To blur the lines I rendered them on a different render-layer and combined them in the compositor
