For this animation I created a sequence with the breaking sphere and then a second one for the melting effect. Then I combined them using the video sequence editor, by reversing the first part and then playing the second part.

floating spheres

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-12-06T06:06:21+00:00

At first I wanted to make new Desktop image for my computers, but that I started to animate the spheres and made them float away

I made a short visualization for a dubstep loop using blender shape keys and an animated displacement modifier

btrace tentacles

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-11-29T06:16:37+00:00

This animation was created using a particle set that is influenced by two force fields. The tentacles have been created using the bTrace addon

spikes from hair particles

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-11-27T06:34:35+00:00

In this animation I tried more extreme settings in the cycles hair rendering to create some growing spikes.

blender subsurface test

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-11-26T06:19:05+00:00

For this animation I used the new cycles subsurface node from blender 2.69 and I played a bit with the film look simulations.

cloudy blender

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-11-23T10:25:49+00:00

This animation originated in an accident. I was playing with the ocean simulation and the new sky node from cycles in 2.69, when I accidentally placed the camera below the mesh. So here you have some blender clouds made by a ocean simulator turned upside down.

a branch in blender

Nikolaus Gradwohl2013-11-14T06:16:21+00:00

This animation was inspired by the branch I drew last week. I used empties as hook elements on the bevel curves to make the curves grow. It´s the same technique I described in this tutorial in january last year.
