light faces cycles material
For this animation I made a cycles material that lights random faces based on an input vector which can be animated

blender particle experiments - emission
For this part of my blender particle experiments I used an emission material on the particles and a brick texture on the floor

blender particle experiments - waves
For this part of my blender particle experiments I used a dynamic paint canvas to generate the waves. The particles "cool down" a bit while jumping around using the age input of the particle-info node

blender particle experiments - size
For this part of my blender particle experiments I used the size parameter of the particle info node to influence the material of the particles

blender particle experiments - age
for this part of my blender particle experiments I used the particle age to influence the material and the color of the particles

blender particle experiments - meta fluid
for this part of my blender particle experiments I used a meta-sphere as object for a fluid particle system.
I had some trouble rendering the sketch with cycles, because I got random blobs of metaballs every 5th to 10nth frame, which I had to clean up manually.
Maybe its because the sketch was rendered using a RC for 2.64 - I will retry this with the final release.

blender particle experiments - many walkers
for this part of my blender particle experiments I used a walking stickfigure as a particle instance object. The stickfigure was generated using the new skin-modifier from blender 2.64

Ray-Length Prism
I used the new ray-length input in cycles from blender 2.64rc2 to generate a glass material that changes the color depending on the ray-length. This can be used to simulate a prism that fractures white light.

blender particle experiments - glow field
For this part of my blender particle experiments I used lots of very small light emitting particles and a force field

a 3D-printed rabbit-bone
To add weight to his words he stuck the rabbit bone in his hair. He spread his arm out wide. "I will go mad!" he annouced.
Douglas Addams
Have you ever felt the need to proclaim your madness but no rabbit bone was around?
No Problem! Just load this Rabbit-Bone-STL file into your 3D-Printer and a view minutes later you are ready to make your announcement.
